2 of the 3 women’s matches awaited the Redbacks women on the first of three home game days for 2024. To the tournament day travelled Berlin Crocodiles and the joint team of Heidelberg/Stuttgart.

Due to Berlin bringing more players, all 3 games were played 9 vs. 9 with substitutes.

For the first game the 7 Redbacks women joined with 4 Berlin players, who alternated for both halves. After a tactic talk from coach Malte, the ladies took their positions on the field. The first half was strong; the ladies managed to keep the score of the Heidelberg/Stuttgart ladies low and have many opportunities in their offensive half. The second half continued in the same way although unfortunately the game ended in a loss. It was still a great start for the ladies, who can be proud of their efforts. The final score was 31:0.

For the match of Heidelberg/Stuttgart vs. Berlin, some of the ladies supported Heidelberg/Stuttgart. Thank you to them for pushing through for all 3 women’s matches of the day!

The last women’s match of the day was Redbacks women’s vs. Berlin. 4 of the Stuttgart girls lent themselves to the Redbacks so 9 a side could be played. Berlin is the strongest team of the league so far this year and showed their strength from the first whistle. All the Redbacks played their best in the first half but unfortunately it was not meant to be. After a short recovery at the half-time break, the play continued. The ladies fought back and although lots of offensive opportunities were created, this wasn’t enough and Berlin could increase their lead further. The final score was 77:0.

Thank you to the Heidelberg/Stuttgart and Berlin girls who supported the Redbacks during the matches. Although both games were lost, the ladies had great fun at their first home game day of the season and are ready to build on their skills for the next game.
